Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is not going to have a smooth sendoff on Chicago PD. The character is leaving the show in the season 11 finale, but now that we've gotten a look at the episode's promo, we know that she will be fighting tooth-and-nail for the duration of its runtime.

The promo is unorthodox in that it doesn't include footage from different scenes. Instead, it focuses on one intense close up of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). The IU leader was kidnapped in the season 11 episode "Inventory," and is told that he's going to be tortured to death.

Hailey Upton races to save Voight in the finale

The serial killer Voight and the team have been tracking all season can be heard offscreen. He gives the officer a chance to call one person that he loves. It's a grim scene, and one that seems focused on Voight, but Upton is just as vital to the promo as her boss. While the camera stays on Voight, the panicked voice of Upton can be heard over the music:

"Matsen has Voight! He took him! He's gonna stab him and watch him die! And it's happening right now!"

Oof. Heartbreaking stuff, considering everything that Voight and Upton have been through. We're confident that the former will make it through the finale in one piece, but this will have a huge impact on Upton, based on the fact that she leaves the IU.

The episode will mark Upton's last case

"Inventory" hinted at Upton's issues. She explained that she'd stopped running six miles a day and resorted to filling her time by taking extra shifts at the police station. It's clear she's looking for an outlet, a distraction from the things that are bothering her, and this final case may prove to be the wake up call she needs.

She can't keep burying herself in her work forever, especially when her work is this grim. Upton is going to have to make a life change if she wants to be happy again, and the intensity of the promo, coupled with the photos of the character from the NBC site, suggest that she will be pushed so far to the brink that she decides not to come back.

One thing's for sure: the season 11 finale, titled "More," is going to be an emotional rollercoaster.
