Chicago Med stars featured in Lifetime’s The Gabby Douglas Story

Chicago Med’s Brian Tee and S. Epatha Merkerson are featured in The Gabby Douglas Story, which is being shown again on Lifetime this Monday.
Fans of Chicago Med will want to tune back into Lifetime on Monday as both Brian Tee and S. Epatha Merkerson are appearing in another Lifetime movie.
With the Winter Olympics starting Wednesday, Lifetime is re-airing The Gabby Douglas Story, its biopic about the life of Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas.
Brian Tee has a co-starring role as Douglas’s coach Liang Chow, while Merkerson plays Gabby’s grandmother.
For those of you who don’t know the story, Chow began to train in gymnastics at the age of five, and was on China’s national gymnastics team for more than a decade, winning numerous national and international medals.

However, he never competed in the Olympics; in 1988 he was too young to make the Chinese team, and before 1992 he suffered a back injury and retired from competition.
He moved to the United States in 1991 after he accepted an English scholarship and a position as an assistant coach for the University of Iowa’s men’s gymnastics program.
Chow then became the head coaching job for the women’s program, before he opened his own gym where he went on to coach not only Douglas, but fellow U.S. Olympic star Shawn Johnson.

You can see why that’d be a perfect role for Brian Tee, since we’ve already seen his character Dr. Ethan Choi have to guide and mentor other doctors over two and a half seasons of Chicago Med. Watch a clip of Brian Tee in The Gabby Douglas Story below:
Lifetime’s decision to re-air this movie comes just a week after Chicago Med‘s Yaya DaCosta was the co-lead in a new Lifetime movie, Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story. That movie may still be repeating; check your local listings. So there’s a lot on this network for fans of our favorite medical drama to watch while you’re waiting for the next new Med episode!
