What can Chicago Fire fans learn from No Such Thing As Bad Luck? Look closer at this week’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 7, episode 18 takeaways.
What did One Chicago fans learn from the latest Chicago Fire episode? Here’s what we took away from this week’s installment, “No Such Thing As Bad Luck.”
“No Such Thing As Bad Luck” featured Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) being reunited with his high school girlfriend—and saving her from the abusive son who’d almost burned the house down with her inside.
Meanwhile, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) gave away a piece of Molly’s Bar and was convinced that she’d cursed the bar as a result. So Stella embarked on another mission to retrieve the stein and restore order to One Chicago’s favorite (only?) hangout.

1) Firefighters have good instincts
Just like the previous episode “Move A Wall” this was a story of Chicago Fire‘s characters noticing a fact or two at the scene that led them to figure out the real situation. Obviously a certain amount of that has to happen for TV; if they just called Chicago PD every time they had suspicions, there wouldn’t be a show.
But from Stella, to this week Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), our characters seem to all have an exceptional sixth sense. Now if only they’d have the same sharp instincts when it comes to their love lives, which continue to be a mess. (Did anyone notice that Keith, the rescued guy, hasn’t been mentioned at all since Stella was supposedly going to go out with him?)

2) Everyone needs to take a breath
Relationships have been pretty frayed around Firehouse 51. Last week it was Casey with the short fuse, this week it was Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) reminding Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) not to be too cocky. And then there’s Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), well, being Herrmann.
These last few episodes have shown more head-butting between characters, so it’d probably be a good idea if everybody just took a few steps back, had a chance to catch their collective breath, or maybe had some sort of break from the action. How about another community event or some sort of thing for Molly’s?
Besides, as we get closer to the Chicago Fire season 7 finale, things aren’t going to get any easier.
3) Has Brett turned the corner?
With so many characters on Chicago Fire, people’s stories sometimes have to be set aside for an episode or two, and that’s what it feels like with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). For someone who was so heartbroken over her breakup, it was only briefly referenced last episode and this week she was all smiles.
Granted, that’s because her role in this episode was to support Cruz, but will the show ever get back to her problems—or are we just supposed to assume she got over it off-screen? Because if so, then maybe she wasn’t that into Kyle after all.
