Our prognosis

While there were a couple tidbits of Hailey’s past thrown into the latest season, viewers still don’t know that much about her. If the writers rectify that, they can continue to paint her in a relatable, well-rounded light.

If they decide to put Hailey with Jay romantically, hopefully they can work it in so it seems natural. Fans have already seen the ‘out of left field’ angle with Upzek, so potentially moving Upstead (or whatever relationship the writers may think of) along in the opposite way can vary Tracy’s acting skills, as well as accrue a plethora of fan reactions.

There’s no doubt that they have done a stellar job at crafting the layers of Hailey Upton, so we’re betting that Chicago PD season 7 will see some more of those being peeled back. Maybe we could learn about her family? Or the oh so elusive undercover job that got her promoted to detective in the first place?

Perhaps we can see Hailey interact more with the other members of Intelligence, like Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) or Trudy Platt (Amy Morton). Heck, we could even use more Burgess and Upton friendship, because Tracy and Marina shine on screen together.

And of course, we can’t forget the elephant in the room: if or how she might be involved in Kelton’s demise. One thing is for sure: there are a lot of possibilities to expand Hailey’s backstory or flesh out her future in the next season of Chicago PD.
