Need to catch up before Chicago PD season 7? Here’s a quick guide to every important moment to remember from Chicago PD season 6.

Are you caught up with Chicago PD? If you’re not, we’ve provided a Chicago PD season 6 recap so you can quickly refresh your memory about every important moment from last season.

Chicago PD season 6 opened on a somber note as the Intelligence Unit grieved the death of Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas). The premiere ended with Olinsky’s funeral, and his presence was still felt throughout the season.

Most of the season concerned Chicago’s mayoral election. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) was promised that Olinsky’s name would be cleared if he agreed to work on behalf of Superintendent Brian Kelton (recurring guest star John C. McGinley), who had designs on becoming mayor. By midseason, though, it was clear that Kelton was corrupt.

And when Voight learned that one of his informants had been murdered by a serial killer that Kelton had knowingly let get away years earlier, he set out on another personal vendetta. His old frenemy Alderman Ray Price (Wendell Pierce) entered the mayoral race and Voight entered a pact to help Price win.

But Chicago PD derailed that when Kelton’s operative—and Kim Burgess’s (Marina Squerciati) boyfriend—Blair Williams (Charles Michael Davis) was murdered in “What Could Have Been.” The killer was Price’s wife, and Voight allowed Ray to take the fall, protecting the Price family but also giving Kelton a clear shot at the mayoral seat.

Kelton was elected in the season finale “Reckoning” but the end of the episode revealed that he had been murdered at his home. So who killed him?

Chicago PD season 6 also had more of an emphasis on characters’ personal lives. Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) began a relationship with Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), which Burgess found out about when she walked in on the duo in “Ties That Bind.” Upton and Ruzek didn’t last the season, however, before they broke up.

Ruzek’s father “Disco Bob” Ruzek (Jack Coleman) also returned in “Fathers and Sons” where he was shot, but recovered and shared a close moment with his son.

Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) struggled with a prescription drug addiction during the first half of Chicago PD season 6, which led to his daughter being abducted and Antonio pushing the dealer who took her out a window in the midseason finale “Descent.” Ruzek took the fall for him, while Antonio went to rehab when Voight found out about his problem.

But when a vengeful Kelton reopened the investigation as another way of getting back at Intelligence, Ruzek found himself on the hook for murder. And when Antonio had a chance to save Ruzek in the season finale, his kind-hearted nature didn’t allow him to use an Internal Affairs cop’s drug-addicted daughter against him.

Ruzek was last seen being arrested, while an upset Antonio turned back to the pills and the rest of Intelligence wondered what their future held. And that was before they found Kelton’s body, which has thrown not just them but the whole city of Chicago into chaos. So where will Chicago PD go from here?
