Charles Michael Davis may have been killed off Chicago PD, but he’s getting another chance at love tonight in Same Time Next Christmas.

The TV-movie premieres on ABC with Davis, who played Kim Burgess’s (Marina Squerciati) late boyfriend Blair Williams on Chicago PD, playing Jeff Williams. Jeff has been pining for a woman he met during a childhood vacation for years.

Then Olivia Anderson (Glee star Lea Michele) walks back into Jeff’s life when he returns to the Hawaiian resort where they met as kids. But of course, she’s got a new boyfriend now and they’re adults this time around, so will they fall in love again or stay apart for good this time?

Chances are things will end up somewhat happily ever after, since this is both a romance movie and a Christmas movie—two genres where things are supposed to be positive and upbeat.

But whatever happens it’ll go better than what happened for Charles Michael Davis in his story arc on Chicago PD. Just a few episodes after Burgess and Blair got together, he was found murdered, and it turned out that Alderman Ray Price’s (Wendell Pierce) wife had killed him.

If you’re one of the people who was sad about that ending, this movie should be great for you, as it’s going to be full of humor and banter and almost certainly won’t involve a murder subplot. Plus, since he’s the male lead, Davis is going to get plenty of screen time!

He is doing just fine since leaving One Chicago, too; he co-stars with Chicago Med recurring guest star Molly Bernard in TV Land’s cult hit Younger.

And he’s also the second Chicago PD actor to turn up in a Christmas project; earlier this week Josh Segarra popped up in FOX‘s event series The Moodys.
