Torrey DeVitto’s Hallmark movie Write Before Christmas now streaming

When Jessica sends Christmas cards to five people who’ve changed her life, each is inspired themselves. But Jessica’s music teacher never receives hercard. Instead, her son Luke arrives with a vintage cello, explaining his mom is abroad and wanted Jessica to have her beloved instrument. Instantly hitting it off, Luke and Jessica have a wonderful day, ending when Luke gives Jessica a photo of the moon, quoting from It’s a Wonderful Life, “You want the moon? Just say the word, and I'll throw a lasso around it.” But love isn’t lassoed just yet. Fate must step in once again. Chicago Med fans who missed Torrey DeVitto’s recent Hallmark Christmas movie can now stream Write Before Christmas in time for the holiday.

If you didn’t catch Chicago Med star Torrey DeVitto in Write Before Christmas when it premiered last month, you’re in luck—the movie has now hit streaming platforms.

Hallmark Channel has made the movie available for purchase on both iTunes and Amazon Video, just ahead of the Christmas holiday. Depending on your preferred format, you can get it for as low as $5.99.

DeVitto, who plays Dr. Natalie Manning on Chicago Med, stars in the movie as Jessica Winthrop, a musician who gets dumped by her boyfriend in the lead-up to Christmas.

Unwilling to let the break-up ruin her holiday, Jessica takes five Christmas cards that she got for her now ex-boyfriend and sends them to people who had changed her life. In the process, she’s able to find a new romance with the son of her old music teacher.

More from Torrey DeVitto

The movie co-stars Chad Michael Murray, known for his roles in One Tree Hill and Agent Carter, and who also happens to be the ex-husband of former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush.

Write Before Christmas is Torrey DeVitto’s third Hallmark Channel movie, but her first since 2015. She also starred in It Had To Be You and Best Christmas Party Ever.

With Christmas less than a week away, this is excellent timing for any One Chicago fans looking for a holiday-themed movie to watch, or something to do while Chicago Med continues its hiatus.

Hallmark movies are known for spreading plenty of Christmas cheer, and that might be a welcome change of pace for anyone who’s been watching Natalie’s story arc on the medical drama. She was last seen in tears after she tried to reconcile with ex-fiance Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), only for Will to break her heart.

Not only did Will reveal that he’d moved on—he’s now dating a paramedic—but he told Natalie that he doesn’t think they’re good for one another, and that without her, “I’m free.” That’s going to sting for a while.

But it’s no spoiler to say that Write Before Christmas shows a happier, lighter side of Torrey DeVitto. Check out some behind-the-scenes footage from the movie below and then stream it today on either iTunes or Amazon Video.
