What should fans look for in this week’s episode of Chicago PD? Get ready for “Mercy” with our Chicago PD season 7, episode 10 preview.
Tonight’s episode of Chicago PD will put the Intelligence unit through a world of hurt as they await the fate of one of their own.
“Mercy” sees the result of the midseason finale, as Jay Halstead’s (Jesse Lee Soffer) life hangs in the balance after he was shot by Angela Nelson. While he is fighting for his life, his team will be torn between getting justice for him, and fighting crime on the streets of Chicago.
NBC’s official episode description reads: “As it awaits news of Halstead’s fate, the team turns its attention to an illegal arms dealer; Atwater discovers his brother is in Chicago and could be tied to the case; Voight must deal with Halstead’s shooter; Burgess makes her decision.”
As mentioned above, the case that Intelligence is working involves a weapon-toting bad guy; and if we know anything about Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) unit, they will go after them with everything they’ve got.
Aside from Jay, another team member will be at the forefront of fans’ minds: Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). Hailey was the last one to see Jay before he was shot, and based on the promo, it’s safe to say she’s the one to find him lying on the ground, bleeding out. It’s especially tough for her, as the one person she leans on the most is the one that is in bad shape.
Perhaps this is where newcomer Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez) comes in, as she is Hailey’s current partner, not to mention her roommate. Hopefully Hailey can lean on Vanessa while she awaits news of Jay’s condition. Of course, the whole team will need to support each other through this ordeal, as Jay is very much an integral part of their family.
There is some exciting news in this episode, as Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) begins his own storyline this season. According to the description above, Kevin’s brother, Jordan may be connected to their case. Fans haven’t seen either of Kevin’s siblings since season 5’s “Home,” so it will be interesting to see how he and Jordan interact.
As far as that decision Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has to make? It’ll involve her pregnancy, as she and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) were last seen discussing the implications in “No Regrets.” At the end of that episode, she decided not to go through with her appointment, but things have been known to change quickly in the One Chicago universe. Could Burgess change her mind, or rather, have a change of heart?
We’ll have to wait and see how it all unfolds when “Mercy” airs tonight on NBC.
