By Kari Highman
What should fans look for in this week’s episode of Chicago Fire? Get ready for The Tendency of a Drowning Victim with our Chicago Fire season 8, episode 16 preview.
Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire has Firehouse 51 on edge as a massive call requires everyone’s focus and utmost attention. And that’s just the start!
“The Tendency of a Drowning Victim” lends itself to its title, as a car that’s made its way into the river draws out members of Engine 51, Truck 81, Ambulance 61, and Squad 3. All these different parts of Firehouse 51 will have to work together for a successful rescue.
But teamwork might be an issue this week! While Chicago Fire‘s latest promotional photos feature the majority of 51 on scene, the episode’s synopsis mentions some personal strife.
Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) will have a dispute over a call. That sounds more reminiscent of the first season than Chicago Fire season 8!

Severide and Casey aren’t the only ones who will have to contend with an issue off the job. Fans will also see someone from Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg)’s past come to him with a new opportunity. Whatever the proposition is, could it be beneficial for him to hear them out?
Herrmann’s been managing a lot this season: his command as Engine 51’s Lieutenant, being the majority owner of Molly’s, and scrambling to find another buyer to take over Brian “Otis” Zvonecek’s (Yuri Sardarov) share after Otis’s untimely death. So might he be receptive to a change of pace? Or will this just be something else to add to the pile?

And Chicago Fire is teasing that she’s going to have something else to reveal in “The Tendency of a Drowning Victim.”
With a baby on the way for her birth mother, will Sylvie get to be a part of this half-brother or sister’s life? Would she even want to? Brett has a big heart and loves to help others in need, but right now, she may need to take some time for herself to process such major news.
And will her storyline somehow involve Casey, since he always seems to be around recently when Brett needs him? We’ll find out that and more when the latest Chicago Fire airs tonight at 9:00 pm ET/PT on NBC.
