Michael Beach, who portrayed Darius Walker during Chicago PD season 7, has had his Apple TV drama Truth Be Told renewed for season 2.

While his character of Darius Walker may have died on NBC‘s Chicago PD this season, Michael Beach is certainly alive and well, as is his show for Apple TV called Truth Be Told.

The drama, which falls under the same vein as USA Network’s The Sinner, has been a hit for the streaming service due to its stellar cast and mysterious storylines. It’s not a surprise that a second season has been granted.

Truth Be Told lead Octavia Spencer has been confirmed to reprise her character of true-crime podcaster Poppy Parnell, according to TVLine. Truth Be Told season 2 will focus on a new case for Poppy to investigate, after the first one dealt with the reopening of a murder case that she had helped solve.

Even though Michael Beach hasn’t been confirmed to make a return as Poppy’s husband Ingram, it’s a safe bet he would be considering he’s billed in the main cast—and he’s certainly not tied up with any more Chicago PD appearances!

One Chicago fans will remember when we first reported on Michael Beach’s casting in Truth Be Told that a different Chicago PD name would ring some bells.

Mekhi Phifer, who portrayed the man kidnapped alongside Kevin Atwater in season 5’s “Captive,” stars in Truth Be Told as the detective who helped convict the criminal (played by award-winning Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul).

It will be interesting to see if the two Chicago PD alums will share any scenes together in the upcoming second season. Since both Beach and Phifer play characters so different from their PD roles, it’s intriguing to watch them transform into the good guys on this show.

Plus, what will the writers do? Truth Be Told was originally sold as a limited series, but was also designed to work as a multi-season show. That gives the writers and producers some wiggle room creatively, which in turn could allow for more screen time for Beach if he does return for this new season.

There’s no word yet on when this second season would drop, but if we’re lucky, maybe it’ll be during the summer, or when Chicago PD goes on another hiatus, as season 1 hit Apple TV on Dec. 6, 2019. That would give One Chicago viewers a real chance to binge-watch it.

Regardless, we’re looking forward to seeing if Michael Beach does make a return to the thrilling crime-infused drama, especially since his stint on Chicago PD was met with such a shocking and gruesome end.

You can watch the entire first season now on Apple TV (the company does have a free trial option), or check out the original trailer below.
