Chicago Justice’s Monica Barbaro to star in Arnold Schwarzenegger series
Monica Barbaro plays Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter in new series.
Former Chicago Justice star Monica Barbaro has been cast as the female lead in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new TV project.
Monica, who portrayed Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez on Chicago Justice and then reprised the role in two episodes of Chicago PD, will portray the daughter of Schwarzenegger’s character in what Deadline is describing as a “global spy adventure series.”
The series is created by Nick Santora, best known as the creator of CBS‘s crime drama Scorpion, and produced by Skydance Television.

That last part is important, because Skydance’s film division is behind Top Gun: Maverick, in which Monica features as the only female fighter pilot, codenamed Phoenix.
The movie is now expected to premiere next July after being pushed back twice due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

According to Deadline, it was Monica’s work on Top Gun: Maverick that piqued Skydance’s interest for this new TV project, which is still in the development stage—meaning that it doesn’t yet have a title, further details, or a platform just yet.
What is known for sure is that Monica Barbaro has seen her career explode since her time in the One Chicago universe. She also played the female lead in Netflix‘s comedy-drama The Good Cop opposite Josh Groban and Tony Danza, and booked recurring roles on Stumptown and Splitting Up Together.
She proved herself to be an incredible talent in her single season as Anna Valdez, and it’s fantastic to see that she’s now booking further high-profile projects in both film and television. From being a fighter pilot to potentially portraying a spy (or at least the daughter of a spy), she’s moving into the action space next—and it will be exciting to see her add yet another dimension to her resume.
