Who plays Dr. Dylan Scott on Chicago Med?

Chicago Med added a trio of newcomers in season 7. Dr. Cooper (Michael Rady) is the most overtly devious, Dr. Hammer (Kristen Hager) is the most mysterious, and then there’s Dr. Dylan Scott, who takes the cake as the most likable character to join the ED unit in quite some time.

Scott has proven to be a skillful doctor when it comes to handling patients and interacting with younger characters, and his background with the Chicago Police Department has fans theorizing that he would be essential to future One Chicago crossovers.

Here’s a rundown of Dr. Dylan Scott and the actor who plays him.

Guy Lockard on Chicago Med

Dr. Dylan Scott is played by Guy Lockard. The actor made his screen debut in a 2009 episode of Law & Order, before going on to land guest spots in shows like Gossip Girl, Show Me a Hero, and Gotham. Lockard has also had past experience with the greater One Chicago/Wolf Entertainment universe. He appeared in an episode of FBI and a 2020 episode of Chicago Fire, though he played different characters on both occasions.

Lockard, who resides in Brooklyn, was a hip hop artist in a previous life. He signed a record deal with Ruff Ryders Entertainment when he was 19, but his album was never released and he left the deal to pursue an acting career.

In the season 7 episode, “To Lean In or To Let Go“, Scott laments his police past and admits that he still misses the lifestyle. His father is a lieutenant at the 23rd District, and he still has connections with various officers around the city. It’s likely that Scott has crossed paths with the brother of Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), Chicago PD‘s Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), given that both men run in the same circles.

Chicago Fire showrunner Diane Frolov cited Scott as one of the characters who will help rebirth the show. “We wanted to bring in characters who were different in temperament and backstory from our other doctors, so that their arrival would open up new story possibilities”, she told TV Brittany F.
