Chicago Fire season 15 has finally arrived after a long summer of wondering what's going to happen next with the warehouse fire cliffhanger. We're days away from finding out the fates of the Firehouse 51 team, which includes various character exits and arrivals.
Last season ended with one of the show's most gripping season finales yet as practically none of the characters were out of the woods. Anyone could have fallen victim to the warehouse fire explosion, especially after the season 14 finale spent the full hour setting up bright futures for each member of the team. Between expanding families to new opportunities, a lot was on the line.
Before dive right into another season of Chicago Fire and start the cycle of danger and fires all over again, let's revisit where we left off with the storylines. In case you need a bit of a refresher before season 15 begins, we're reflecting on the five biggest things to remember.

The warehouse fire puts the team in danger
In the Chicago Fire season 14 finale, the entire Firehouse 51 team gathered together to answer a call at a warehouse. The fire at the building became increasingly dangerous, and the episode concluded with the warehouse exploding and going up in flames even bigger than before.
The team that was stationed on the roof was running back down to safety at the time of the fire, while the team inside the building will now be trapped. That's not really want you want to hear, that the vast majority of the characters could be at risk of not surviving the latest call.
Well, the season 15 first-look teaser and photos have basically revealed which characters survive the fire, leaving a few remaining characters fates' will be confirmed in the premiere. We don't know if 51 will lose anyone, but we should be prepared for the continuation of last season's disaster.

Severide and Kidd could be taking in Isaiah again
The season 14 finale also brought Severide and Kidd's foster son Isaiah back into their lives. He unexpectedly returns for a visit, and they assume it's simply a visit based on the explanation he gives them. However, they quickly learn there's much more to the story.
Isaiah isn't content with his living arrangements in Cleveland, as his mother isn't able to care for him due to her health and he doesn't want to stay with her friend. He comes back to Chicago hoping that he can live with Severide and Kidd again, but this time full time.
While they plan to speak with Isaiah's mother and current caregiver, they seriously consider having Isaiah move back in with them. Of course, there are other matters that are still very much up in the air, like the outcome of the fire and Severide's career path. (More on that soon!)

Cruz's personal life gets an update ahead of his departure
As previously mentioned, the Chicago Fire season 14 finale spent much of the countdown to the warehouse fire showing the progression of the team's personal lives compared to the impending doom. Mouch's writing career gets a boost, Herrmann renews his vows, and Cruz learns that he and his wife are expecting twins. The stakes couldn't have been higher for each of them.
The update on Cruz's personal life was especially concering. His life being on the line while he and his wife were expanding their family brought the concern for him all the way up to an 11. We're not super concerned about Cruz anymore considering Joe Miñoso will be leaving the series and is said to be getting a "wonderful sendoff." Still, it's bittersweet to be losing Cruz at all.

Pascal is out as the Firehouse 51 chief
On top of the possibility that we could lose a member of the team in the fire and the confirmation that Cruz will be written out at some point early in the season, we also knew going into season 15 that Pascal would no longer be the chief of Firehouse 51 and that Dermot Mulroney will also be leaving the show. It's a bummer, but at least he'll get the chance to be written off.
Mulroney's exit came with a bit of suspicion that perhaps Pascal, who was on the scene of the warehouse fire, could have rushed in to help the team and ended up losing his life. But NBC released a photo of Pascal grinning on the scene, which seemingly suggests he also makes it out alive. Regardless, the firehouse is in the market for a new chief this season!

Vasquez and Severide consider career changes
Last but not least, the season 14 finale found two members of the squad thinking about a future outside of Firehouse 51. Vasquez had always wanted to be a cop but followed his own path apart from his father to become a firefighter. Now, he's considering his options.
Vasquez participated in a police training test and displayed a real affinity for work as a police officer. When he opens up to Kidd, she tells him that it's not too late to pursue his dream. But seeing as he's back in the firehouse in season 15, he hasn't yet made any permanent decisions.
Likewise, Severide was also pursuing an avenue outside of firefighting and taclking a position at the Office of Fire Investigation (OFI). Kidd wanted to discuss this being an option for their family, especially if they take in Isaiah full time. Severide's future looms large over season 15.
