Since the season 14 finale delivered one of the most dangerous calls the Firehouse 51 team has faced in recent memory, fans were expecting some kind of a casting shakeup in Chicago Fire season 15. We might have a good idea about who survives the warehouse fire, but there are still major cast exits and additions set to take place in the new season that fans are eager to see.
While we have already learned from NBC who the new cast additions are, including Da'Vinchi and Matthew Daddario as new firefighter candidates, we have started to see the new characters in action. We first met them in behind-the-scenes photos and again in the first teaser trailers for season 15, but the network has officially released the first batch of photos of the latest additions to Firehouse 51.
In the newly released photos from Chicago Fire season 15 episode 1, we can clearly see the dynamic between Marcus Burke (Da'Vinchi) and McCaffrey (Matthew Daddario) might not be an instant friendship, but we also meet two more firefighter candidates. One of the photos captures Burke and McCaffrey alongside Jansen (Joe Eichorst) and Hollis (K.C. McNeil).

Chicago Fire season 15 photos tease four new probie characters
It's unclear how these character will wind up factoring into Chicago Fire season 15 and how long most of them will stick around. Da'Vinchi has been confirmed to be a series regular, while Daddario is either recurring or a guest star. There's speculation that the Shadowhunters actor could only appear in one episode of the season, though the full extent of his role hasn't been locked down.
While we have known about two of these probies, the photos reveal the roles of Jansen and Hollis for the first time. These characters and casting haven't previously been reported on, and we're both hearing about them and seeing them for the first time. Because of the fact that they weren't announced ahead of time, we have to assume that Jansen and Hollis don't have a major role.

The fact that the only one of the four new probies that's a series regular character is Burke leads us to believe we already know the outcome of the firefire candidate storyline. If Chicago Fire season 15 leads the existing 51 team to hire a new firefighter, either as a replacement for someone they lost or just as normal, it seems incredibly likely that spot will belong to Burke.
Despite finally catching a glimpse of the potential new class of Firehouse 51 team members, there's still a lot we won't know until the new episodes begin rolling out. Ahead of the season 15 premiere, new showrunner Victor Teran teased the vibe that Marcus Burke will bring to the team, and it's reminiscent of Vasquez's arrival last season as well as the series' original frenemy duo.
According to Teran, Burke joins the squad with a confident attitude that immediately clashes with a certain member of the team. He likened their relationship to that of Severide and Casey in the early seasons of the series, and while we initially assumed he and Vasquez would be butting heads due to their similar personalities and young ambition, the photos have us thinking maybe it's McCaffrey.
Chicago Fire season 15 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on NBC.
