Chicago Fire fans are no strangers to change, and the show’s fifteenth season will be bringing a lot of change to Firehouse 51.

As we’ve seen in recent years, the writers continue to keep things fresh by bringing in new faces to inject new blood into the firehouse while also writing out longtime members of the team. This will be the case again in season 15, with many cast shakeups being announced ahead of the Chicago Fire season 15 premiere, both in the form of cast departures and the casting of new characters for the show.

We’ll see many of these changes coming as the season begins, but there are sure to be changes as the season progresses as well. While not quite as common, we have seen key players added to the show mid-to-late in the season, and we’ve also seen characters written out of the show unexpectedly at the most random moments in the season.

Chicago Fire is saying goodbye to several characters in season 15

Much like last season, Chicago Fire will be saying goodbye to several characters in the new season with two series regulars exiting the show and another pair of key guest players not expected back.

The biggest cast change comes with the exit of original cast member Joe Minoso, who will be exiting the show early in season 15. Minoso has been part of Chicago Fire from the very beginning, originating the role of Joe Cruz in the pilot episode of the show. After 15 seasons, Minoso will be written out of the show early in season 15, with many anticipating that his final episode will come in the show’s 300th episode (which is the fifth episode of season 15).

Also leaving the show in season 15 is Dermot Mulroney, though his exit isn’t quite as shocking. Mulroney joined the cast as a series regular in season 13, coming on board as Chief Dom Pascal, who entered the mix following Chief Boden’s promotion within the CFD. Late in season 14, Pascal was fired from the CFD for conduct unbecoming in an exit that was first described to be part of a temporary leave for Mulroney but has now evolved into a permanent departure. We’ll see Mulroney’s final episode as Pascal comes in the season 15 premiere, bringing his time on the show to an end after just two seasons.

We’re also not expecting Rob Morgan back as Chief Hopkins or Jeanine Mason back as Lucy Zambetti. While the door was left open for Morgan and Mason to return, it seems their guest arcs were wrapped in the final episodes of the season, with neither appearing in the season 14 finale. Lucy was, of course, fired from Firehouse 51 after going behind Hopkins' back to help Kidd get her hands on confidential case files, while Hopkins left 51 to return to his old posting after burying the hatchet with Severide.

But there are new additions to the Chicago Fire season 15 cast as well

As we prepare to say goodbye to several characters, we’ll be saying hello to a batch of new faces who will be arriving at Firehouse 51 to shake things up this season. Chicago Fire season 15 is set to introduce fans to a new class of firefighter candidates, which includes our newest series regular: Da’Vinchi.

Da’Vinchi joins the Chicago Fire cast as the sole new series regular addition and will be playing firefighter candidate Marcus Blake. Blake is one of a handful of new probies making their way to Firehouse 51, where they’ll work to prove themselves and land a permanent spot within the CFD. As a series regular, we expect Blake will be the probie that goes the distance and ends up landing a spot in the CFD, and potentially full-time at 51, but there will be some other new faces joining the cast as well in guest and recurring roles.

Matthew Daddario will guest star in the season premiere as firefighter candidate McCaffrey, and the show has also confirmed the addition of Joe Eichorst as candidate Jansen and K.C. McNeil as candidate Hollis. It’s unclear how much we’ll see of these three characters, but we expect they’ll appear in a more limited capacity than Blake, given Da’Vinchi’s status as a series regular.
