Consider us fooled. Anybody who has watched an episode of Chicago PD know that Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos have great chemistry. The duo have been playing a couple for several years on the police drama, and up until 2024, we've chalked it up to good acting.

Soffer and Spiridakos are indeed good actors, but it seems as though there was more to their chemistry than fans initially thought. According to the New York Post, the duo have actually been dating for the last several years!

The outlet confirmed that Soffer and Spiridakos have preferred to keep their romance under wraps, especially considering the fact that their characters, Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton, were dating on the show, but the cat seems to finally be out of the bag. A source claimed that they have been an item for "years", though they failed to provide exact dates.

This is not the first time that Soffer has been romantically linked to a One Chicago co-star. He dated former PD star Sophia Bush from 2014 to 2016 (a time that coincided with a romance between their respective characters), and former Chicago Med star Torrey DeVitto from 2017 to 2019.

The discovery that Soffer and Spiridakos have been dating adds a fascinating element to the recent storyline involving their characters. Halstead left the show early in PD season 10, despite still being married to Upton, and the decision has led to a prolonged period of marital tension.

It was widely believed that the characters were headed for divorce in season 11, especially given the fact that Halstead's return seemed unlikely, but then, the news arrived that Upton would be leaving at some point in 2024. It was a shocking turn of events, but one that suggested there could be a happy ending, if Upton was leaving to repair things with her husband.

It's a testament to Soffer and Spiridakos that they've been able to keep their offscreen romance a secret for so long, but it will be interesting to watch Upton's final episodes with this new context. It's been theorized that Halstead will return to help transition Upton off the show, but there's been no evidence to support it besides the wishful thinking of longtime fans.

Neither Soffer nor Spiridakos has commented on the dating reports thus far.
