Chicago PD fans can’t watch that Alvin Olinsky tribute scene anymore, as NBC has taken it down from the show’s YouTube channel.

Alvin Olinsky hasn’t been forgotten by Chicago PD viewers, but his memory won’t be living on, on YouTube.

NBC has taken down a YouTube video that featured Olinsky (Elias Koteas) being remembered by his Intelligence Unit colleagues, after the character was revealed to have died at the start of the show’s fifth season finale.

The scene was shot for the finale “Homecoming” but was cut from what fans saw on TV; the network subsequently posted it to YouTube as a deleted scene earlier this month.

However, now they’ve deleted it from the Internet, too—which will no doubt be frustrating to the many fans who are still saddened by the decision to kill off Olinsky.

We don’t know why NBC removed the Olinsky remembrance scene, but it’s an odd decision for a number of reasons.

It’s been almost two months since “Homecoming” aired, and many One Chicago viewers are still sad and even upset over the character’s death, which showrunner Rick Eid said afterward was a story decision and not Elias Koteas’s choice.

Revealing that there was an unaired scene with the Intelligence team mourning Olinsky’s death was a small way for fans to mourn themselves, and was the missing piece from the season finale. It was closure for the characters, but also for the audience.

Plus, the scene also included Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) talking about the shooting of the man who had ordered the attack on Olinsky, giving clarity to something that was left vague in the TV version.

It was a very good scene, and it was surprising that it didn’t make it into the episode. Having it online was a nice consolation prize, so why take it down now?

It’s not NBC cleaning up the Chicago PD YouTube channel either. While the network has taken down other deleted scenes between seasons (like the scene where Halstead told Lindsay he was in a support group last season), several digital exclusives from season 5 are still on the channel as of this writing, along with a clip show of Olinsky’s final moments and a “digital exclusive” GMC commercial.

While it’s disappointing that NBC has removed Chicago PD‘s tribute to Alvin Olinsky, perhaps the scene will be included on the season’s upcoming DVD release—which still hasn’t been announced yet but should be coming this fall.

Chicago PD returns to NBC on Sept. 26.
