Despite being relatively newer franchises, CBS’s trio of FBI shows have seen a lot of cast departures across their first few seasons — and we’re not just talking about the exits of minor, recurring characters.

Each of the three shows has bid farewell to at least one series regular over the years with FBI: Most Wanted having had the most notable casting changes over its four seasons. In fact, there are now only two series regulars on the show who have been a part of the cast since the first season!

The flagship series in the franchise has seen somewhat better retention of its core cast, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a few surprising exits across the show. In fact, like FBI: International, FBI also bid farewell to a series regular following its first season — one who many hadn’t anticipated would leave.

While we’ve seen some familiar faces pop up at times, the franchise hasn’t been the best at bringing back old faces which is why we’re not expecting these characters to return at any point in 2023.

FBI cast members we don’t expect back in 2023

  • Julian McMahon as Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix
  • Ebonee Noel as Analyst Kristen Chazal
  • Sela Ward as Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier
  • Kathleen Munroe as ADIC Rina Trenholm
  • YaYa Gosselin as Natalia ‘Tali’ Skye LaCroix
  • Kellan Lutz as Special Agent Kenny Crosby
  • Miguel Gomez as Special Agent Ivan Ortiz
  • Nathaniel Arcand as Special Agent Clinton Skye
  • Christiane Paul as Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger

Let’s start with the character who we likely won’t ever see back be it in 2023 or any year in the future: Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix. When Julian McMahon announced his exit from the show, it at first seemed like there could be a chance he’d return in the future; however, those hopes were quickly dashed when they killed his character off the show.

With Jess having been killed on the show, we don’t anticipate we’ll ever get to see McMahon back on FBI: Most Wanted. His exit also made it unlikely that we’d see YaYa Gosselin return as his daughter Tali, though there is always a chance she could pop up for a guest appearance given her character is still alive.

Speaking of FBI: Most Wanted, the show has also bid farewell to some other amazing cast members over the years including Kellan Lutz (Special Agent Kenny Crosby), Miguel Gomez (Special Agent Ivan Ortiz), and Nathaniel Arcand (Special Agent Clinton Skye). While Kenny, Ivan and Clint were all alive when we last saw them, the characters’ exits were all connected to the actors’ desire to leave the show which hints we’re not likely to see them back in 2023 — but we can’t rule out any of their returns entirely.

Speaking of returns that could occur but are looking unlikely. We’re growing doubtful that we’ll see Christiane Paul back as Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger in the year ahead on FBI: International. After departing the show after its first season, we’ve yet to see Paul back in any capacity and the show has mentioned her less and less in the time that has passed since her departure. While it’s possible she could return for a guest appearance next year, nothing has been announced and we’re not going to be holding our breath.

Finally, we have the characters we’re not expecting to see back on FBI in 2023. This list includes Ebonee Noel as Analyst Kristen Chazal, Sela Ward as Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier, and Kathleen Munroe as ADIC Rina Trenholm.

Given that Rina was killed and Munroe now is part of the cast of ABC’s The Rookie: Feds, we don’t see any way the character would return in 2023.

As for Ebonee Noel and Sela Ward, while the pair played a crucial part of the show’s early run, neither has been seen on the show for several years now with their characters being replaced by new additions. Since bringing in the likes of Alana De La Garza as Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille and Katherine Renee Kane as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, the show has not looked back with barely any mention of Kristen or Dana since.
