It's a wild time to be a One Chicago fan! On one hand, the shows are stronger than ever, and the fact that the writers, actors and producers had to wait longer than usual to resume production means they are even more excited to get to work.
On the other hand, the franchise has had to part way with multiple actors in the past year, and will continue to do so into 2024. It's sad to see so many beloved characters leave, but there's solace in knowing that the writers will take the necessary steps to ensure that they get a proper send-off.
Here are all of the One Chicago stars who will be walking away from the Windy City in 2024.
Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) is leaving Chicago Fire
This one made sense even before it was confirmed by NBC. Kara Killmer has been on Chicago Fire for almost a decade, and her character, Sylvie Brett, was taking the sort of major life steps that come into play when a show is trying to give someone a happy ending.
Killmer has been the most reflective with regard to her upcoming departure, posting throwback pics of her first day on the set, and posting videos with co-stars like Hanako Greensmith and Miranda Rae Mayo. The only thing that's unclear is when Killmer's character is leaving.
Chicago Fire has done a good job of keeping Brett details under wraps, so it's possible we don't find out until her last episode airs.
Tracy Spiridakos (Hailey Upton) is leaving Chicago PD
Another exit that made a lot of sense. Tracy Spiridakos is a Chicago PD veteran whose character, Hailey Upton, hit a sort of dramatic dead end in season 10. Upton became consumed by her failing marriage to Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), which made it difficult to place her in different stories.
The best case scenario for Upton's character is that she reunite with Halstead off-screen, which would resolve a storytelling decision that was off-putting for many fans and give the character a happy ending that seemed virtually impossible in season 10.
Spiridakos has also had fun on social media during the production of her last season, posting photos alongside her co-stars and even bringing a toy doll of her onscreen husband, Halstead, to the set.
Alberto Rosende (Blake Gallo) is leaving Chicago Fire
Nobody saw this one coming! Alberto Rosende has only been on Chicago Fire for a handful of seasons, and his character, Blake Gallo, was pegged as the future of the 51, so it was shocking to learn that Rosende would be departing for good in season 12.
Rosende's exit has also yielded the most in terms of information. Deadline confirmed that the actor would be leaving during the season 12 premiere, and that he'll be replaced by newcomer Rome Flynn.
Flynn will play an amateur ex-boxer who gets hired by the 51 truck, which is the same position that Gallo currently holds down, so it's pretty clear that the show is making a one-for-one swap.
