Sophia Bush CBS pilot Good Sam still in development
Good Sam, Sophia Bush’s current CBS pilot, is apparently still alive.
There’s some good news about the Sophia Bush pilot Good Sam.
While there hasn’t been any word about the medical drama since March, a new report from TVLine claims that the pilot is still in the development process. That means it has a chance of still getting picked up to series.
TVLine doesn’t offer any specifics about Good Sam‘s status, and with the COVID-19 pandemic TV development in general has been turned upside down, so it’s hard to predict too much.

The lack of details suggests that the pilot is probably still somewhere in the creative planning stage, since if it were filming or going to film (like Charlie Barnett’s NBC pilot) that information should have come out by now.
Plus, CBS only ever confirmed two cast members, so that gives the impression it doesn’t yet have the complete cast to film anyway.

So with all that in mind, the educated guess is that Good Sam is still working itself out with CBS deciding whether or not it will actually film said pilot. This late in the year, it might roll the project over to 2021; that’s happened before to other shows, with a TV version of The Lost Boys being essentially scrapped and restarted between 2019 and 2020, and it’s still in limbo.
If the network decides to go forward with it, it could shoot in early 2021 for a summer launch or wait and try to get itself a spot on next year’s fall schedule. Considering the level of talent involved with Sophia Bush and Jason Isaacs, that would be a better idea.
So translation: Good Sam might still be alive but it’s not necessarily happening yet and if it does, it’ll almost certainly be a while before One Chicago fans get to see it.
If you’re looking for a silver lining, though, this means CBS is obviously very high on working with Sophia Bush. The network held onto her previous pilot Surveillance way longer than any other TV pilot last season, and now they’re likewise taking their time with Good Sam. The network seems like they want to get her on their airwaves—they’re just trying to find the best project to do it.
